1990 John R. Adler, a Stanford neurosurgeon, founded Accuray Incorporated in 1990. The company began commercial operations in 1992. 
2007 The company signed a co-marketing and distribution agreement with Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. to integrate the CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System and RoboCouch Patient Positioning System with a Siemens SOMATOM CT scanner with a sliding gantry configuration.
2007 The company partnered with Still River Systems, a proton beam radiotherapy solutions developer, to provide a robotic patient positioning system.
2010 Accuray formed a strategic alliance with Siemens to expand its global footprint in radiation oncology by adding a complementary new sales channel to deliver the technology to a larger patient population.
2011 The company acquired TomoTherapy Inc., creator of advanced radiation therapy solutions for cancer care, for approximately $277 million to offer advanced patient-focused technologies for treating cancer and other diseases.
2012 The company acquired Morphormics, Inc., a privately held company founded by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty members based on their research on auto-analyzing medical images, for $5.7 million. This acquisition allowed the company to provide Image Processing Software and to deliver personalized treatment solutions.
2019 Accuray Asia Ltd, a subsidiary of Accuray Inc., and CNNC High Energy Equipment (Tianjin) Co., Ltd, a China Isotope and Radiation Corp subsidiary, entered a joint venture to manufacture and sell radiation oncology systems in China. 
2022 The company partnered with Limbus AI Inc. to augment Accuray's adaptive radiotherapy capabilities by leveraging Limbus' artificial intelligence (AI)-driven auto contouring algorithms. This enabled automated contouring to further streamline the treatment planning process.
2022 The company partnered with Genolier Innovation Hub, a Swiss-based subsidiary of AEVIS VICTORIA SA, to quickly bring medical and technological advances to patients.
2023 The company opened a new global training facility, the Accuray Center for Education, at its corporate headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin. The new center was part of the company's comprehensive education program, which included on-site training, online microlearning, cloud-hosted courses, and Accuray Exchange, a platform for peer-to-peer exchange.
2024 Accuray and TrueNorth Medical Physics LLC partnered to provide radiation oncology departments with third-party support to enhance their department's capabilities.
