1940 Leonard Parker Pool founded Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.
1944 The company moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where it produced 240 oxygen generators for the armed forces.
1950 The company has started the production of liquid oxygen and nitrogen.
1957 The company developed rocket fuels, i.e., liquid hydrogen, for Air Forces and NASA.
  Air Products and Chemicals Inc. collaborated with Butterley Company and entered the global industrial gas market.
1961 Through a joint venture, the company started manufacturing chemicals to transform refineries by-products into oxo-alcohols.
1962 The company acquires the Houdry Process Company and Catalytic Construction Company.
  The company's stock was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
1969 With the acquisition of Escambia Chemical Corporation, the company has expanded its chemical position.

1990 In Asia, the company forms joint ventures with two Japanese companies, Daido Hoxan and Showa Denko, to serve the growing electronics industry.
  The company acquired Permea, Inc., one of the leading suppliers of membrane and adsorption gas separation systems.
2000 The company becomes one of the leading industrial gas suppliers by acquiring the industrial gas business of BOC Gazy in Central Europe.
2008 The company commissioned its new hydrogen fueling station at its global headquarters in Allentown, Pa.
2010 The company has received two significant orders from Shaanxi Future Energy Chemical Co. Ltd. (12,000 TPD of oxygen) and Shanxi Lu’An Mining (Group) Co. Ltd. (10,000 TPD of oxygen). 
2012 The company acquires a controlling stake in INDURA, one of South America's largest independent industrial gas companies.
2013 The company acquires EPCO Carbon Dioxide Products, Inc.
2015 Under a joint venture between Air Products and Chemicals Inc. and ACWA Holding, Saudi Aramco had awarded Air Products and Chemicals Inc. a contract to build, own, and operate the most significant industrial gas complex to supply Saudi Aramco refinery in Saudi Arabia.
2020 Air Products and Chemicals Inc., NEOM, and ACWA Power agreed to develop a carbon-free hydrogen-based ammonia production facility powered by renewable energy.
  The company sets a new sustainability goal to lower its COâ‚‚ emissions intensity (kg COâ‚‚/MM BTU) by one-third by the beginning of 2030 from a 2015 baseline.
2021 The company has completed the construction of its new global headquarters.
