1980 Alltech was founded in 1980 by Irish biochemist Dr. Pearse Lyons in his garage in Lexington, Kentucky. Lyons started the company with $10,000 to use his yeast fermentation expertise to address challenges in animal nutrition. 
2016 Alltech acquired Coppens International, an aquatic feed and nutrition company, to expand its portfolio in the aquaculture industry. 
2016 The company acquired Solbiosur, a specialized Spanish agricultural and horticultural crop solutions company, to strengthen its crop science business.
2017 The company acquired Montana-based WestFeeds, which includes manufacturing facilities in Billings and Great Falls and outlets in Billings, Dillon, Great Falls, Lewistown, and Miles City.
2019 The company partnered with American National CattleWomen (ANCW) to support the cattle industry and promote the role of women in agriculture. This collaboration aimed to enhance education, provide resources, and advocate for beef producers, highlighting the contributions of women in the cattle business and fostering leadership within the industry.
2019 Alltech and Alimetrics collaborated on an in vitro tool to develop and evaluate feed protein sources. The tool measures the proportion of certain amino acids converted to specific end products over 24 hours.
2021 Alltech and DLG announced a joint venture to increase efficiency for livestock producers in Scandinavia. This joint venture strengthens the company's position and presence in Finland.
2021 HELM Agro and Alltech Crop Science announced a partnership to overcome the gap between traditional and biological crop input solutions.
2021 Alltech partnered with the World Equestrian Center as the official equine supplement supplier with their Lifeforce premium equine supplements line.
2023 The company acquired Ideagro, based in Murcia, Spain, to accelerate soil and crop research and to enhance biological and other microorganism-based offerings.
2023 Alltech partnered with the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (DPO) to create a model for nutrition innovation and sustainable dairy farming.
2023 Alltech and Finnforel joined forces to acquire the Raisioaqua fish feed production facility from Finnish company Raisio. The acquisition completes Finnforel’s sustainable circular-economy fish-farming chain while enhancing aquaculture producers’ access to Alltech’s nutritional technologies.
2023 Alltech and Agolin partnered to provide eco-friendly nutrition solutions to support cattle production and sustainability goals.
2024 The company partnered with Thai Wah Public Co. (TWPC) to advance carbon reduction efforts in the Asian agri-food industry by leveraging scientific nutritional solutions and technologies.
2024 Alltech and EnviroEquine, an American company specializing in marketing natural nutritional supplements for horses, announced a license agreement that will feature Alltech technologies in many of EnviroEquine’s supplemental nutritional equine products.
