1937 Er. Holger Hesse founded Ambu and initially named the company Testa Laboratory.
1956 The company introduced the Ambu ventilation bag, a self-inflating resuscitator anesthetist Henning Ruben developed.
1986 Testa Laboratory changed its name to Ambu International, and six years later, the stock exchange listing officially marked Ambu as an international company.
2001 Ambu acquired Medicotest, the largest European manufacturer of electrodes. With this acquisition, the company includes an extensive portfolio of quality electrodes called BlueSensor. 
2009 Ambu introduced Ambu aScope, the world's first single-use flexible bronchoscope. 
2024 Following the FDA clearance for the Ambu aScope 5 Cysto HD solution, Ambu introduced its HD cystoscope to urologists, expanding the urology offering and meeting advanced needs for cystoscopy procedures requiring superior image quality in the U.S.
