1935 Associated British Foods PLC (ABF) was founded in 1935. It began as Food Investments Limited and later changed its name to Allied Bakeries Limited.
1960 Allied Bakeries changed its name to Associated British Foods to diversify beyond baking and milling further.
1964 Associated British acquired Twinings as part of a clear diversification strategy into other industries.
1999 Associated British acquired AB Enzymes, which became part of the present-day ABFI (ABF Ingredients), ABF’s specialty ingredients business.
2002 ABF acquired Ovaltine, a producer of malted beverages and snacks, and ABF merged it with Twinings to form Twinings Ovaltine.
2012 Westmill Foods, a Associated British Foods P.L.C. subsidiary, acquired Elephant Atta and smaller related ethnic flour brands from Premier Foods P.L.C. for $52.7 million.
2015 Primark, a subsidiary of Associated British Foods (ABF), opened its first store in Boston, U.S., as part of its international expansion. This represented a massive milestone for Primark. 
2017 Acetum, a prominent Italian producer of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, was acquired by ABF to meet consumers’ increasingly sophisticated tastes and growing demand for high-quality, on-trend foods.
