1897	Maxwell Becton and Fairleigh Dickinson founded Becton, Dickinson, and Co.
1898	Becton, Dickinson, and Co. obtained its first patent for an all-glass syringe.
1906	The company has established the first syringe and needle factory in the U.S.
1913	BD Merged with Oscar O.R. Schwidetzky’s surgical import company.
1924	Becton, Dickinson, and Co. Introduced its first insulin injection device.
1925	BD acquired the Yale Luer-Lok, the company developed simple, secure method for attaching and removing a needle from a syringe.
1940	Becton, Dickinson, and Co. launched the first sterilization technology for devices.
1942	BD released the first penicillin injection kit.
1951	BD expanded its international expansion by forming Becton, Dickinson, and Co. Canada, Ltd.
1952	BD acquired MAPAD, S.A. de C.V., based in Mexico City, to produce syringes, needles, and clinical thermometers for the Mexican market.
1956	BD enters the Brazilian syringe market with two modern plants and HeadQuarters in Sao Paulo.
1961	The company introduced the Plastipak Syringe.
1968	Becton, Dickinson, and Co. developed the first automated blood culture system for T.B.
1973	Established a research center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
1975	BD opened its European headquarters in Meylan, France.
1980	Launched the first automated system for mycobacteria testing.
1981	A new plant is built in Plymouth, England, to manufacture BD Vacutainer system products and serve a growing European market.
1986	Relocated headquarters from Rutherford, New Jersey, to Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
1987	Becton, Dickinson, and Co. opened a manufacturing facility in Singapore and built a plant to manufacture diagnostic products in Fukushima, Japan.
1991	BD launched the first auto-disable immunization device, a pen needle.
1995	BD formed a subsidiary in India to manufacture insulin syringes and to market other medical and diagnostic products to the region.
2014	The company launched the first FDA-approved drug-coated balloon for peripheral artery disease. It also launched AutoShield Duo Safety Pen Needle with Duel Automatic Protective Shields.
2015	BD acquired CareFusion, a San Diego, California-based medical technology company specializing in two areas: reducing medication errors and prevention of health care-associated infections.
2019	Launched the first CHG antiseptic skin preparation product with a sterile solution in the U.S. and launched the first venous stent to treat iliofemoral venous occlusive disease.
2021	Introduced the first ready-to-use aqueous povidone-iodine (PVP-I) surgical irrigation and launched the first smartphone-interpreted rapid at-home COVID-19 test.
2022	BD became the first company to combine flow cytometry with fluorescence imaging and image-based decisioning to sort individual cells based on visual details of the cell at exceptionally high speed.
2023	The company has launched an advanced Vascular Access Ultrasound System Designed to Improve Clinician Efficiency and collaborated with Bio Farma to Help Eliminate Tuberculosis in Indonesia by 2030.
2024	Becton, Dickinson and Company and Babson Diagnostics launched Innovative Fingertip Blood Testing for Health Care Organizations and launched an Enhanced Intraosseous System, Enabling Vascular Access in Seconds for Critical Care Situations.
