Company Overview

Casco manufactures electromechanical components for the automotive industry in the U.S. and Europe. Casco’s diverse product line includes cigarette lighters, power outlets and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valves. It also provides various professional services, including research, design, engineering and contract manufacturing. The company has operations and facilities in Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Italy, Tunisia and the U.S. Customers include General Motors and Ford.

Casco is owned by the private international company Sequa.

Casco has been developing sensors since 1936 with the goal of making driving safer, more relaxed and more comfortable. Sensors monitor events around them, transmit information and thereby contribute to the automatic control of various vehicle functions. For more than 70 years, Casco’s research has been directed to vehicles’ sensory aspects. The company’s products include:

  • 3D sun load sensor: Individual climate control is provided to both the front and rear seats.
  • Ambient in-car temperature sensor: Measures the temperature at different points in the vehicle and also the outside temperature for the ice warning function.
  • Ambient light sensor: Measures the light intensity of the surroundings and automatically controls the vehicle’s internal and external lighting systems.
  • Fluid level sensor (two types): Uses an infrared LED to measure the oil or brake fluid level and activates the warning indicator lights.
  • Inductive distance sensor: Provides automatic headlight adjustment and vehicle leveling for different axle loads.
  • Rain and light sensor: A space-saving combination of rain and ambient light sensors in a single housing.
  • Rain sensor: Detects the light refraction caused by rain droplets on the windshield and activates the windshield wipers.
  • Relative humidity sensor: Checks the relative humidity in the vehicle passenger compartment to prevent fogging of the windshield; also used in the carburetor to ensure an optimum fuel/air mix.
  • Seat occupation sensor: Checks the weight exerted on the front passenger seat to ensure appropriate airbag control.
  • Sun load sensor: Determines sunlight conditions precisely and adjusts the air-conditioning system to suit.
