1897 The Dow Chemical Co. was a product-based start-up founded by H.H. Dow.
1900 Midland Chemical Company merges into Dow.
1920–1940  
1937 The company's stock was listed on the New York Stock Exchange for the first time.
1941-1959  
1947 Dow establishes Brazos Oil & Gas Co.
1952 Dow establishes Asahi-Dow, Ltd., its first subsidiary in Japan.
1960–1989  
1964 The company has reorganized and set up three international headquarters outside of Midland: Dow Europe, Dow Latin America, and Dow Pacific.
1972 Dow launches Lorsban insecticide.
1973 Dow became the first foreign industrial company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1977–2004  
1986 Dow ranks as the world’s largest producer of thermoplastics.
1996 DuPont Dow Elastomers begins its operations.
2004-Present  
2009 Dow acquires Rohm and Haas.
2016 Dow completed a strategic restructuring of Dow Corning and became 100% ownership of its silicones business. 
2019 The company has completed its separation from DowDuPont.
