1840 Thomas Emery Sr. started his new business of manufacturing lamp oil from the lard in his oil factory.
1887 Emery Candle Co. was incorporated with a capital of $200,000 in Ohio.
1938 The company developed the EMERSOL Solvent Separation plant and patented its manufacturing processes.
1947 The company started the first operation of its Colgate-emery pressure splitter and patented its processes.
1969 Emery acquired Malmstrom Chemical Corp. and Trylon Chemicals to strengthen its position in personal care and textile chemicals.
1978 National Distillers and Chemical Corp bought Emery Industries. The company was interested in complementing its petrochemical branch with chemicals from renewable resources due to the 1970s energy crisis.
2005 Cognis and Golden Hope formed a joint venture to form Cognis Oleochemicals.
2013 The company announced a $50 million site expansion to grow capacity and advanced technical capabilities in biopolyols. This expansion will be driven by a new business platform called Eco-Friendly Polyols, which will benefit Biolubricants and agro-green platforms.
2021 Emery Oleochemicals' Green Polymer Additives business unit has developed a binder system for 3D printing sinterable metals and ceramics, further extending the material options available to the 3D printing industry.
2024 Emery Oleochemicals launched the Green Polymer Additives lab to expand its global product development capabilities, opening an improved and sophisticated application laboratory in Rayong, Thailand.
