1945 Masao Horiba founded the Horiba Radio Laboratory in 1945 while studying at Kyoto University in Japan. The company was later incorporated as Horiba, Ltd. in 1953
1950 The company launched the first glass electrode pH meter, an essential product in the early years.
1959 Hitachi allied with the company to collaborate on developing and producing measurement and analysis equipment.
1964 The company successfully manufactured the first automotive emission analyzer, the MEXA-1, which helped establish Horiba as a leader in automotive testing technology.
1970 Olson-Horiba Inc. was established in the U.S. as a joint venture between Horiba and Olson Instruments. This collaboration focused on providing advanced analytical instruments and solutions, particularly in the automotive and environmental sectors.
