1954 Reinhard Straumann founds the research institute Dr. Ing. R. Straumann AG in Waldenburg.
1960 The Swiss AO Foundation asks Straumann to assist them in solving technical problems.
1967 Fritz Straumann, the son of the company founder, took over management of the company after his death.
1974 Produced the first titanium hollow cylinder implants and established the Straumann Dental Implant System.
1980 Straumann expands internationally, and the first subsidiary was founded in Germany.   
1990 Thomas Straumann, grandson of the company founder, takes over management of Institut Straumann, which now focuses on oral implantology.
1992 Acquired entranger in Niederdorf, the second production site after Saint-Imier.
1997 Straumann develops the SLA surface, which halves healing time.
1999 SynOcta cementable standard abutment.
2000 The new production plant in Villeret has started operations and will replace the previous plants in Saint-Imier and Niederdorf.
2002 Emdogain promotes the regeneration of the periodontium and thus helps to save teeth in periodontal diseases. Acquisition of Biora, a pioneer in biologically based regeneration of dental tissue.
2004 Relocated the company headquarters after 50 years in Waldenburg to Basel.
2007 Straumann acquires Etkon, an emerging leader in CAD / CAM dental prosthetics. 
2009 Acquired the dental business IVS Solutions AG, which helps to enter into computer-guided surgery, and Launched Roxolid material.
2011 The company has acquired a stake in Dental Wings, which was founded in Montreal, Canada, in 2007.
2012 Straumann acquires 49 % of Neodent, founded in Brazil by Dr. Geninho Thome in 1992.
2013 It invested in Medentika, which was founded in 2005.  Launched the Titanium base portfolio Variobase. Acquired a Stake in Createch Medical, specializing in SRBBs.
2014 Established a partnership with biomaterials specialist botiss biomaterials in Germany.  
2015 Straumann increases ownership of Neodent to 100 %.
2016 The company has acquired Indian implant manufacturer Equinox.
2017 Acquisition of ClearCorrect, founded in Texas by Willis Pumphrey, Jr. in 2001. Acquired a 30% stake in Rapid Shape, a German pioneer in 3D printing. Controlling interest gained in Medentika. Acquired Geniova in Spain and Dental Wings.
2018 Acquired controlling stake in Taiwanese implant manufacturer, 30% stake acquired in botiss biomaterials, and Stake in Createch increased to 100%. Invested in AI-enabled remote monitoring Dental Monitoring.
2021 Launched the fully tapered Tissue Level Implant System TLX.
