1947 Founded as Lucky Chemical Co. Ltd. focusing on cosmetics.
1951 Produced Korea’s first injection-molded synthetic resin products.
1954 Completed the Yeonji Plant in Busan.
1959 Established Lucky Oil and Fat Co. Ltd.
1962 Established Lucky Vinyl Co. Ltd.
1966 Set up Korea’s first synthetic detergent factory in Anyang Plant and renamed to Lucky Chemical Industries Co. Ltd.
1979 Opened the Lucky Central R&D Center in Daedeok.
1984 Acquired Korea General Chemicals’ Naju Plant.
1987 Completed construction of the acrylate factory in Naju Plant.
1995 Renamed to LG Chem.
1996 Acquired India’s Hindustan Polymers Ltd.
1998 Completed the Ningbo ABS plant in China.
1999 Founded rechargeable battery, phosphor, and CCL factories in Cheongju Complex.
2000 Acquired Hyundai Petrochemicals’ PVC business.
2001 Divided the company into LGCI, LG Chem, LG Household & Healthcare.
2005 Established a sales subsidiary in Europe and founded a joint R&D lab with Moscow State University.
2006 Merged with LG Daesan Petrochemicals Co. Ltd.
2008 Acquired Kolon’s SAP business.
2010 Founded HL Green Power Co. Ltd., a joint venture with Hyundai Mobis.
2019 Established VLBP, a joint venture with VinFast in Vietnam.
2021 Established a PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) plant with ADM in the U.S.
2023 Signed an MOU with China's Huayu Group to establish a plant in Morocco to produce LFP cathode materials.
