Company Overview

Lumenis is a leading global manufacturer of energy-based, minimally invasive clinical products for the surgical, ophthalmic and aesthetic markets, including solutions for both medically necessary and elective procedures. Its products include laser, intense-pulsed light and radio-frequency technologies.

Lumenis was the first company to commercially introduce a laser-based product to treat retinal conditions. Its products treat conditions affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye, including various retinal conditions, as well as different types of glaucoma and secondary cataract procedures. The company also distributes a refractive laser solution and is also exploring additional ophthalmic applications with diagnostic capabilities.

For retinal applications, Lumenis’ product solutions provide non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments for conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment. The company also offers systems for refractive surgery, and it pioneered the use of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) in 2001 for the treatment of glaucoma, which has been found to have a success rate of 93% as a primary therapy. The Array LaserLink expands the capabilities of the Lumenis laser system to deliver pattern scanning capabilities, which is designed to provide greater predictability in retinal treatments and less collateral damage to the retina. Array LaserLink is also intended to save treatment time for clinicians and reduce patient discomfort, with shorter pulse duration and sequential multi-spot delivery resulting in shorter laser sessions.
