2011	Messenger was introduced as an expansion of Facebook.com's chat functions.
2012	Facebook acquired Instagram, the popular photo-sharing application, for around $1 billion in cash and stock.
2014	Facebook acquired WhatsApp, a cross-platform mobile messaging company, for approximately $16 billion, which includes $4 billion in cash and $12 billion in Facebook shares.
2017	Facebook launched Messenger Kids to offer a secure alternative to the standard Messenger platform for a younger audience.
2021	Facebook Inc. was rebranded to Meta, which unified the company's applications and technologies under a new brand.
2023	In partnership with Microsoft, Meta launched Llama 2, the next generation of Llama in three different model sizes: 7, 13, and 70 billion parameters.
