1987 POET LLC was founded in 1987. It started as a single bioprocessing facility in Scotland, South Dakota, and has since become a substantial biofuel producer.
2006 The company partnered with DuPont to advance the development of ethanol from cellulosic biomass.
2007 POET Biorefining rebranded all 26 of its ethanol production sites from Broin Companies.
2007 The company collaborated with several agricultural equipment manufacturers to refine harvesting methods and to store and transport corn cobs for commercial cellulosic ethanol production.
2009 Perdue AgriBusiness and POET partnered to promote and represent POET's Dakota Gold BPX, a premium-grade distillers grains product line in domestic and international feed markets.
2010 POET purchased a 90 million gallon-per-year ethanol plant outside Cloverdale, Ind. Altra Biofuels previously operated.
2017 The company partnered with U.S.-based Al Dahra ACX, a subsidiary of Al Dahra Holding, to grow distillers' grains used in the Middle East.
2022 The company acquired the rail-to-container transload facility of Savannah Marine Terminal (SMT) in Savannah, Georgia.
2023 Poet signed a partnership agreement with Midwest Commodities in Detroit, Michigan. As part of the agreement, Midwest Commodities will provide Poet solely with DDGS truck-to-container transload services.
