1969 Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. established.
1970 Started production of black and white TV.
1971 Began exporting of black and white TV to global market.
1974 Samsung-Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. was renamed as Samsung Electric Co., Ltd.
1975 The company has launched its third quick start system TV worldwide.
1977 Samsung Electric Co., Ltd. merged with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
1978 Korea Semiconductor Co. renamed as Samsung Semiconductor Co.
1979 The company has developed VHS-based VCRs (model: SC-7700).
1987-1980  
1980 Samsung Semiconductor Co., Ltd. merged with the business unit of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. 
  The company opened its first R&D center in South Korea.
1982 The company founded its first sales office in Germany.
  The company started with the production of personal computers (model: SPC-1000).
1984 The company has changed its name to Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
1986 The company developed its first digital TV across the globe.
1987 The company has opened Samsung Advanced Instritute of Technology (SAIT) to strengthen its R&D capabilities.
1997-1988  
1988 Samsung Electronics has been formed with the merger between Samsung Semiconductors & Telecommunications Co., Ltd. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
1991 The company has developed a semiconductor post processing plant in Korea.
1992 The company developed mobile phone system.
1994 The company founded Samsung Design America in San Fancisco, U.S.
1996 The company developed its first 64-bit alpha architecture processor globally.
2007-1998  
1998 Samsung Austin Semiconductor began its production.
1999 The company built multicomplex plant in Manaus, Brazil.
  The company launched the 1st MP3 mobile phone, mobile TV phone, and wireless internet phone.
2001 The company has established a corporate design center.
  Began its first 200mm wafer processing line 11 in Korea.
2002 Started with the production of 1Gb NAND flash memory.
2005 Started operating S line, a 300mm line dedicated to system LSI, in Gihueng, Korea.
  The company has established a design studio in Milano, Italy.
2006 The company launched a Blue-ray player (model: BD_P1000).
  Became No. 1 in global TV market share (by sales).
2017-2008  
2008 Established manufacturing and assembling plant (SEV).
2009 Developed its first 40nm DRAM.
2010 The company unveiled its Samsung Apps for TVs.
  The company acquired Medison, a medical equipment company.
2011 Launched its first Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet.

2012 The company merged with Samsung LED Co., Ltd.

2013 Established a new mobile manufacturing factory in Bac Ninh, Vietnam.

2014 Opened new semiconductor plant in Xi'an, China.
  Acquired SmartThings, a U.S.-based IoT platform developer.
2015 The company acquired YESCO, a LED display manufacturer in the U.S.
  The company acquired LoopPay, a mobile payment company in the U.S.
  The company has launched its Samsung Pay mobile payment services.
2016 The company has unveiled its first lifestyle TV, The Serif.
  The company has acquired Dacor, a kitchen appliances provider, Joyent, a cloud service provider, and Viv Labs, an AI platform developer.
2017 Established a foundry business unit separate from the System LSI division.
  Expanded Bixby voice capabilities to more than 200 countries. 
  Samsung Research was formed with the merger of Software R&D Center and Digital Media & Communications (DMC) R&D Center.
