1972 SAP established the global standard for enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
1975 SAP installed its software outside Germany for the first time at Swiss customers Coop and Georg Fischer.
1979 The company started developing R/2, a new generation of software designed with international markets in mind.
1980 SAP's roughly 80 employees moved into an office building in Waldorf, Germany.
1992 With the client-server software, SAP has become a global player with subsidiaries and development centers worldwide.
1999 SAP acquired some of its competitors, including Business Objects, Sybase, Ariba, SuccessFactors, Fieldglass, and Concur.
2003 SAP renames its flagship suite to mySAP Business Suite.
2005 SAP acquired retail providers Triversity and Khimetrics.
2006 SAP and Microsoft present Duet, the first product they jointly developed, supported, marketed, and sold.
2008 SAP acquired Business Objects, which made it a subsequent leader in business software, enterprise performance management, and business intelligence.
2011 The first customers started using the in-memory database SAP HANA, the first platform on which customers could analyze data in seconds instead of days or weeks.
2012 SAP acquires Ariba to enable its more than 195,000 customers to easily connect to the Ariba business network through predefined integration points.
2013 SAP acquires Hybrisa, a recognized leader in commerce technology.
2015 The launch of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the Internet of Things (IoT) expanded SAP’s portfolio of IoT solutions, helping customers connect the core of their business to the edge of the network.
2016 Apple and SAP announced a partnership to combine native apps for iPhone and iPad using the SAP HANA platform.
2017 Google and SAP announce a strategic co-innovation partnership to make SAP HANA available on Google’s public cloud platform.
2019 SAP and Intel announce a multiyear technology partnership to optimize Intel platforms for end-to-end SAP enterprise software applications.
2021 SAP partnered with investment company Dediq GmbH.
2023 SAP announced SAP Datasphere, a data service built on SAP BTP.
