1912 The company was founded.
1914 The company moved to Hayashi-cho, Honjo-ku, Tokyo.
1920 Established a branch factory in Oshiage, Tokyo.
1926 Began export of radio sets and components to China, Southeast Asia, India, and South America.
1929 Launched AC vacuum-tube radios.
1942 Changed the company name to Hayakawa Electric Co. Ltd.
1948 Established Sharp Shoji.
1956 Spin off sales division to establish Sharp Electric Co.
1958 Sharp Electric merges with Hayakawa Dengyo.
1962 Established Sharp Electronics Corp. in the U.S.
1963 Established Sharp Tokyo product center.
1967 Sharp Electric absorbed into Hayakawa Electric.
1970 Changed the company name to Sharp Corp.
1975 The company began mass production of color TVs at SCA in Australia.
1985 Established Sharp Trading Corp.
1992 Established Sharp Thebnakom Manufacturing (Thailand) (STTM) as the production division of STCL.
1995 Began operations at Mie Plant for mass production of LCDs.
2001 Established S.I. Solutions jointly with IBM Japan.
2011 Established HEMS Alliance with nine other companies.
2023 Sharp and Huawei signed a long-term global patent cross-licensing agreement that covers Cellular Standard Essential Patents, including 4G and 5G.
2024 Sharp and Xiaomi signed a patent cross-license agreement on wireless communication technologies.
