1983	Sunrise Medical was incorporated and established its first distribution and manufacturing divisions in the U.K. and U.S. with the acquisition of BEC Mobility (a manufacturer of powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters formed in 1968).
1985	The company established its international presence by adding a new distribution division in Canada.
1986	The company acquired QUICKIE Wheelchairs, revolutionizing the manual wheelchair industry by introducing personalized, ultra-lightweight wheelchairs to the mass market.
1992	Sunrise Medical acquired SOPUR, a German manufacturer of active, ultra-lightweight wheelchairs and handbikes. This acquisition expanded the company and increased its portfolio.
1993	Sunrise Medical established its Norwegian division by acquiring Norsk Rehab, the exclusive distributor of QUICKIE wheelchairs in Norway.
1994	The company established its Swedish division by acquiring Vitactiv AB, the exclusive distributor of wheelchairs and mobility scooters in Sweden.

2015	The company acquired Handicare's mobility product lines (including GEMINO rollators) and manufacturing divisions in Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, and China.
2015	Sunrise Medical acquired RGK, a company specializing in developing, designing, manufacturing, and distributing bespoke high-end sports/basketball and daily-use manual wheelchairs.
2018	Sunrise Medical acquired MAGIC MOBILITY, an Australian manufacturer best known for its all-terrain power wheelchairs.
2019	The company launched the first EMPULSE wheelchair push aid, the R20, designed to support the attendant pushing the wheelchair. The R20 is the only power pack that can be folded with the wheelchair.
2020	The company acquired ORACING Designs, a manufacturer and distributor of various sports, made-to-measure manual wheelchairs, hand bikes, and E-Mobility power assist products.
2020	Sunrise Medical acquired LECKEY, a pioneer in the research and development of products that help children and adults with disabilities to go, do, enjoy, and participate in everyday activities throughout the day and night.
2022	The company acquired The Helping Hand Company, a British company specializing in designing, manufacturing, and distributing pressure management seating and positioning products, Symmetrikit 24-hour postural care range, independent living, and environmental products.
2022	Sunrise Medical acquired Now Tech, a start-up company with highly desired technical skills and 10+ years of industry-specific knowledge and expertise in developing smart power wheelchair controllers (such as the innovative Gyroset Vigo exceptional head control).
2023	The company acquired Ride Designs, a renowned industry leader in premium custom seating systems for wheelchair riders.
