1945 Tata Motors Ltd. was established to manufacture locomotives and other engineering products.
1954 After partnering with Daimler-Benz, the company launched its first commercial vehicle, the first Tata Mercedes-Benz (TMB) 312 truck in the market.
1991 The company introduced the Tata Sierra, the first home-grown sports utility vehicle (SUV) designed and manufactured locally.
1992 The company introduced the Tata Estate, its first passenger vehicle, which lasted from 1992 until 2000. 
1994 The company launched Tata Sumo, a ten-seater rear-wheel-drive multi-utility SUV designed for military and off-road transport. 
1998 The company launched the Tata Safari, India's first sports utility vehicle. This vehicle was optimized for off-road advantages and urban environments.
  At the Geneva Motor Show, the company also launched Tata Indica, India's first wholly indigenous B-segment passenger car. 
2004 Tata Motors collaborated with Daewoo, a South Korean automobile manufacturer, and introduced the Tata Novus, a heavy commercial vehicle from its manufacturing facility.
2005 The company launched its first full range of fully built buses under Globus and Starbus. The new range will target different transport segments, including school buses and upper-end inter-city buses commonly referred to as the Volvo bus segment.
2007 The company introduced Tata Magic, India's first small commercial four-wheeler public transport, to create a new market segment with the concept of small passenger carriers.
2009 Tata Motors launched the Tata Nano, heralded as the world's cheapest car. Its dealer price in India is approximately $2,000.
2012 The company launched the Tata Safari Storme, a new version of its sports utility vehicle, in the Indian market. The all-new Safari has four variants: the LX, EX, VX, and VX 4X4. 
2017 The company launched the Starbus Electric 9m, Starbus Electric 12m, and Starbus Hybrid 12m buses and displayed a range of intelligent buses for clean and green cities. 
2019 In association with Google, Tata Motors launched Tata Altroz Voice BoT, a personalized and interactive voice experience for the Tata Altroz, using Google Assistant.
2020 Tata Motors launched its latest offering in the tipper space, the Signa 4825.TK is India's first 47.5-tonne multi-axle tipper truck for surface transport of coal and construction aggregates.
