1876 Ericsson was formed as a workshop to repair telegraph instruments and undertake small mechanical engineering jobs. 
1902 The company opened a sales office in New York. Four years later, the company transformed its sales office into a telephone production plant that began operations in Buffalo, New York.
1905 Ericsson won an agreement to operate the telephone network in Mexico City and its outlying areas. After four years, Mexeric, an Ericsson subsidiary, took over these operations.
1923 Ericsson's first telephone station with the 500-switching system came into regular operation. Eight years later, the company delivered around 100 telephone stations with over 350,000 lines.
1977 The company installed its first digital telephone exchange (AXE). By the end of the 1970s, additional AXE deliveries were made to France, Finland, Australia, Sweden, and Saudi Arabia.
2000 Ericsson has become one of the leading suppliers of 3G mobile systems worldwide. 
2005 Ericsson wins the most significant contracts to manage Operator 3's networks in the U.K. and Italy. Under this contract, the company will operate, maintain, and expand 3's network, IT infrastructure, and ongoing radio network rollout.
2008 Ericsson established a research center in Silicon Valley, U.S. 
2009 Ericsson collaborated with Verizon to conduct its first data call on the 4G network.
2011 Ericsson acquired Telcordia, the American telecommunication research and development company, for $1.8 billion. Under this acquisition, the company wants to strengthen its Operations support systems (OSS), business support systems (BSS) transformation, and mobile broadband support systems.
2012 Ericsson acquired BelAir Networks, a carrier-grade Wi-Fi company, to become a solid carrier-grade Wi-Fi portfolio, technological expertise, and IPR, establishing customer contracts and relationships.
