2006 Celanese sold the TOPAS business to Daicel Corporation and Polyplastics Co., Ltd., two leading Japan-based chemicals and plastics firms, and the TOPAS Advanced Polymers business was launched in 2006.
2010 The company developed new resin technology for TOPAS cyclic olefin copolymer (COC), which offers improved processability, high purity, and high heat resistance for applications in the medical and food industries.
2013 The company developed a new COC Film Grade 7010F-600, which features a glass transition temperature of 110°C and strong extrusion capabilities for multilayer food packaging.
2018 Polyplastics' wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Polyplastics USA, Inc., was merged with consolidated U.S. subsidiary TOPAS Advanced Polymers Inc. to expand its presence in the Americas.
2021 Borealis, a provider of innovative polyolefin solutions, collaborated with TOPAS Advanced Polymers to develop a new class of engineering material for thin, highly heat-resistant capacitor film applications. 
2023 The company established a cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) production facility in Leuna, Germany, to meet the growing global demand for its TOPAS COC polymers.
