1885 Trane Technologies plc was founded in 1885 by James Trane, a Norwegian immigrant, as a plumbing and pipe-fitting shop in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
1913 The company was incorporated as The Trane Company after creating an innovative low-pressure steam heating system.
1984 American Standard Companies, Inc. acquired the Trane Company and launched the American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning brand four years later.
2007 American Standard Companies divided, allowing the company to renew its business focus and leadership in integrated HVAC services and solutions.
2008 Ingersoll Rand acquired Trane in June 2008 to provide innovative products, services, and solutions for quality and comfort in homes and buildings.
2020 The company's tools business was spun off as Ingersoll Rand, and the remaining company was renamed Trane Technologies.
