1885	Trane Technologies plc was founded in 1885 by James Trane, a Norwegian immigrant, as a plumbing and pipe-fitting shop in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
1913	The company was incorporated as The Trane Company after creating an innovative low-pressure steam heating system.
1984	American Standard Companies, Inc. acquired the Trane Company and launched the American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning brand four years later.
2007	American Standard Companies divided, allowing the company to renew its business focus and leadership in integrated HVAC services and solutions.
2008	Ingersoll Rand acquired Trane in June 2008 to provide innovative products, services, and solutions for quality and comfort in homes and buildings.
2020	The company's tools business was spun off as Ingersoll Rand, and the remaining company was renamed Trane Technologies.
2021	The company partnered with Aircuity to provide building owners with automated, data-based indoor air quality monitoring and management solutions.
2021	Trane Technologies partnered with Nexii Building Solutions Inc. to create sustainable commercial buildings with significantly reduced carbon footprints.
2021	The company acquired Farrar Scientific, a provider of ultra-low temperature control for biopharmaceutical and other life science industries, for a total transaction value of up to $365 million, expanding its capabilities in ultra-low temperature control and increasing access to biopharma and other life science markets.
2022	The company collaborated with European Schoolnet through their industry initiative, STEM Alliance, to promote access to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and careers among underrepresented students, such as girls and refugees, in Europe.
2023	The company acquired Nuvolo, a modern, cloud-based connected workplace and enterprise asset management products and solutions provider, to expand its software-as-a-service (SaaS) and digital capabilities and meet the fast-growing demand for such solutions.
2024	The company partnered with the Carolina Ascent Football Club, one of the eight inaugural franchises of the United Soccer League’s Super League, to serve as the presenting partner of the Carolina Ascent Women’s Leadership Speaker Series. The series aims to connect, develop, and inspire current and future female leaders across the greater Charlotte area.
