1989 The merger of Union Minière with its subsidiaries (Metallurgie Hoboken-Overpelt, Vieille-Montagne, Mechim) transformed Union Minière into an integrated industrial group.
2001  The Group changed its name to Umicore.
2003 Umicore acquired PMG.
2005 Umicore spun off its copper business into a separate company called Cumerio.
2017 Umicore acquired heavy-duty diesel and stationary catalyst activities from Haldor Topsoe.
2020 Umicore acquired the cobalt refinery in Kokkola, Finland.
2023 Umicore entered into 10 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Ignitis Renewables.
2024 Umicore entered into an agreement with Microsoft to use artificial intelligence for research in battery materials technology for electric vehicles.
