Vuzix is engaged in the design, manufacture, marketing, and sales of wearable display devices in the form of AR glasses, VR glasses, and smart glasses. The company was established in 1997 and is based in West Henrietta, New York, U.S. Wearable display devices developed by Vuzix work like eyeglasses and contain a varying degree of features such as built-in video screens and audio. These wearable display devices also often include cameras, sensors, and a computer, that enable the user to view and interact with video and digital content, such as movies, computer data, the internet or video games.
The smart glasses developed are designed to work either independently or as a peripheral to a smartphone. These glasses include most of the features of a smartphone, allowing them to be used as a hands-free wearable computer. Smart glasses developed by Vuzix can be used as a wearable substitute for large-screen televisions, desktop computer monitors or tablets.
Vuzix Corp. sells its products internationally through distributors, resellers, online stores, and various Vuzix operated web stores in Europe and Japan. The current focus of the company internationally is on Europe and Japan only. The Japanese operations are being conducted through a branch sales office, whereas in Europe the company operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, Vuzix (Europe) Ltd., through which the company sells its products across the EU and Middle Eastern markets.
