1945-1965 Mohamedhusain Hasham Premji took over his late father's grain trade and expanded their business into the manufacturing industry. He started business with the first oil mill project in India.
1966-1978 After Mohamedhusain's untimely death, his son Azim H. Premji transformed the business into a brand-oriented company, leaving behind its legacy as a commodity-based vegetable oil maker.
1979 Wipro recruited its first employee for the Infotech division and applied for a license to develop, manufacture, and market mini computers.
1989 Wipro became a diversified manufacturer of computer systems, consumer products, and industrial equipment.
2000 Wipro was first listed as a public company in the New York Stock Exchange.
