1889 The Boston Blacking Company, a producer of leather colorings and dyes for the shoemaking industry, was founded in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
1980 Bostik was taken over by the Connecticut group Emhart Corporation, which, nine years later, was itself bought up by Black & Decker. Black & Decker split apart the group's mechanical and chemical activities to leave Bostik as a stand-alone concern. 
1990 The French oil and gas group Total acquired Bostik and merged its adhesive affiliates.
2013 The company launched a new signature, “smart adhesives,” and a gecko inspired by nature with a science-based connection to Bostik’s adhesives business.
2015 Arkema, a Specialty Materials player offering innovative and sustainable solutions, acquired Bostik. 
2019 The company launched Fix & Flash, a professional technology that bonds on demand with any material due to its drying UV system.
2021 The company purchased the furniture of a cutting-edge commercial laminator from Nordmeccanica, a lamination machine supplier, to bolster its global R&D efforts on flexible lamination and further diversify its offering of sustainable, innovative adhesive solutions.
2024 Bostik partnered with The Bovelander Foundation to provide underprivileged children and young adults opportunities to enhance their personal, social, athletic, and educational development.
