1837 John Deere, a blacksmith developed the first commercially successful, self-scouring steel plow and founded the company.
1843 The company partnered with Leonard Andrus to develop more plows to meet increasing demand.
1848 Deere, Tate, and Gould form partnership and moved to Moline. Under the new partnership, Deere was free to do sales work and marketing. 
1956 Deere builds a small-tractor assembly plant in Mexico and buys a majority interest in Heinrich Lanz, a German tractor and combine manufacturer with a small presence in Iberica, Spain.
