It offers the SPECTRALIS ophthalmic imaging system. which combines high-resolution laser fundus imaging (infrared reflectance, blue reflectance, BluePeak blue laser autofluorescence, fluorescein angiography, and ICG angiography) with OCT scanning; and HEP, an automated perimetry that offers a stimulus concept that targets the magnocellular pathway (M-cell).

The company also provides the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph, used for analyzing 3D structural change to the optic nerve head and retina; and HEYEX/Heidelberg Eye Explorer, a central patient database and user interface that allows review of images, as well as enables connectivity to EHR and PACS systems via a DICOM interface/custom interfaces. Its products are used by ophthalmologists and optometrists to scan patients’ eyes for signs of disease, such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and macular edema; and to assist in the management of patients found to have disease. The company distributes its products through a network of wholly owned subsidiaries and distribution partners worldwide

In January 2017, Heidelberg Engineering and Gauss Medical established a joint venture in China; Gauss Infomed will offer picture archiving and communication systems and electronic medical record software, while Heidelberg Engineering will contribute to the joint venture with its extensive expertise as developer of high-tech diagnostic imaging platforms.
