Company Overview

MTS Systems Corp. is a supplier of mechanical testing systems and position sensors for a wide variety of markets and applications. A pioneer in precision force and motion control, MT5 provides products that determine the mechanical behavior of materials, products and structures.

MTS Sensors (a division of MT5 Systems) delivers position and liquid-level sensors and is a supplier of magnetostrictive-based sensor products. In 1970, MTS Sensors was the first to employ the principle of magnetostriction for position sensors and liquid-level gauges. MTS Systems created the sensors division when it acquired Temposonics Inc. in 1984. Temposonics remains the key technology brand for MTS Sensors. The company developed into a supplier of test and simulation systems and magnetostrictive sensor technology. Today, MTS Systems offers solutions for companies from the automotive, aerospace equipment and manufacturing industries, medical companies, research institutes and OEMs.

Development, production and sales of linear-position and liquid-level sensors take place at three sites: Ludenscheid, Germany, Cary, N.C. and Tokyo, Japan. The products include linear-position sensors, liquid-level sensors, mobile equipment sensors, light industrial/commercial sensors and specialty sensors.
