1987 Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) was founded in 1987 by Morris Chang. It started as a collaboration between the government of Taiwan, the tech giant Philips, as well as private investors with an interest in semiconductor technology.
1997 Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) partnered with Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Group (ASE) to provide customers with a process flow from wafer fabrication, advanced IC assembly, and test services to delivering packaged parts directly.
2009 AppliedMicro, a provider of energy-conscious computing and communications solutions, collaborated with the company for microprocessors to be manufactured on TSMC’s technology platform first at 90nm, then 65nm and 40nm soon after.
2016 The company collaborated with ARM, a manufacturer of advanced digital products on 7nm FinFET process technology for High-Performance Computing.
2020 STMicroelectronics, a semiconductor manufacturer, collaborated with the company to accelerate the development of Gallium Nitride (GaN) process technology and supply both discrete and integrated GaN devices to market.
2023 TSMC, Bosch, Infineon, and NXP established a joint venture to provide advanced semiconductor manufacturing services in Europe.
