1893 Compagnie Francaise Thomson-Houston (CFTH) was formed.
1968 The professional electronics businesses of Thomson-Brandt (previously CFTH) merge with Compagnie Generale de Telegraphie Sans Fil (CSF) to form Thomson-CSF.
1982 The parent company, Thomson SA, is nationalized.
1983 Entered an agreement with CGE.
1987 The semiconductor businesses are merged with those of the Italian group IRIFinmeccanica.
1996 Holdings in Credit Lyonnais and SGSThomson (now ST Microelectronics) are divested.
1999 Extended to South Africa, Australia, South Korea and Singapore.
2000 Thomson-CSF renamed Thales.
2007 Thales signed an agreement with French naval player DCNS.
2019 Acquired Gemalto.
